Xbox 360 Elite

For those that were not quite happy with the features presented in the previous two Xbox 360 packages, the Core and Premium editions, Microsoft is now offering a third, bigger, sleeker option. The Xbox 360 Elite package is the answer for all those out there who were considering the purchase of a Premium package but were not quite convinced that the features included with that machine were quite enough for your needs.

The first thing you’ll notice when looking over the sleek new console is the jet black finish. Everyone wants a slick console and the only way to get the classic, black look is to pick up the Elite package. The wireless controller included will also be black to round out the look.

Of course, the Xbox 360 Elite is not just a change of color for the console. That would hardly warrant the new price point of $479. This new offering of the Xbox 360 is essentially the ultimate edition of the console.

The most striking addition is the inclusion of a 120 GB hard drive. The new drive is touted as the largest offered for any gaming console and sold separately costs $179. With the influx of new high definition video, Xbox Live arcade options, and all those extras you download for your existing games like Map packs, a bigger hard drive was almost necessary and for those without an Xbox 360 yet, the Elite is the best place to start for that reason alone.

Another nice addition is the inclusion of an HDMI port for use with your expensive home entertainment set up. Instead of worrying about the lack of the port in other packages, you’ll be able to enjoy full video support with any of your games with the new Elite console.

Offering these two features alone makes up for the console’s $79 price hike above the Premium Package. Also included with the Xbox 360 Elite is one black wireless controller, a wireless headset (also black), the always included Xbox Live Silver membership and one free month of Xbox Live Gold Membership. In all, you’ll everything you need right out of the box.

For those few features that are not covered right away, the peripherals are still available separately. You can buy extra rechargeable battery packs, now available in black to match your new black console and new rechargeable kits to keep the batteries charged.

The new Xbox 360 Elite package is a great option for anyone out there who does not yet own an Xbox 360. It delivers top notch gameplay the same as the other 360 packages, but also brings the large hard drive support and long awaited HDMI interface that so many fans have been waiting for. Definitely consider this as a first option when looking into a new Xbox 360.
